Fair Use Policy

Last Updated: 10/16/2024

Overview

All plans, whether VPS, VDS, dedicated servers, or others, are subject to a Fair Use Policy regarding shared resources. We strive to maintain flexibility, but it’s important to recognize that some resources are shared among users. Responsible usage is crucial.

CPU Usage

Dedicated and Virtual Dedicated Servers

  • Usage: You are free to use 100% of the CPU 24/7, as the cores are dedicated to you.

Virtual Private Servers (VPS) and Website Hosting Plans

  • Shared Resources: CPU is shared among users.

  • Recommended Usage:

    • Keep CPU usage below an average of 75% on VPS plans.

    • For website hosting, limit CPU usage to 1 core, ideally below 25%.

  • Abuse Definition:

    • Excessive usage is defined as any usage that significantly impacts other users or exceeds expected limits for your plan.

  • Consequences of Excessive Usage:

    • We may lower your CPU priority or temporarily cap usage at 50% (or lower).

    • Bursts over 75% are acceptable; however, consistent high usage could lead to deprioritization or caps.

Cryptocurrency Projects

  • General Rule: Heavy or sustained usage of shared resources like CPU or disk space is not permitted on VPS.

  • Abnormal Usage Consequences:

    • VPS may be deprioritized, suspended, or relocated to a node for cryptocurrency projects.

  • Contact Us: If you need a dedicated solution or have questions regarding specific cryptocurrency projects.

  • Custom Solutions: We offer custom solutions for mining and can provide guidance on projects that may incur limits or suspensions.

  • Project Impact:

    • Projects like Quilibrium or Monero may lead to suspension or termination due to their resource impact.

    • No refunds will be issued for VPS suspended due to cryptocurrency activity.

    • Projects like Flux are permissible as long as they do not cause performance issues.

Bandwidth Usage

  • Fair Usage: We expect reasonable bandwidth usage on plans labeled as "fair usage."

  • Usage Recommendations:

    • Sustained speeds over 200 Mbps 24/7 are uncommon.

    • Aim to keep usage under 50-60TB on fair use plans.

  • Consequences of Excessive Bandwidth:

    • If usage exceeds limits, particularly on low-cost plans, we may contact you or limit network traffic.

  • Reverse Proxies and VPNs: Subject to higher scrutiny and may face limitations under the fair use policy.

I/O Usage

  • Guidelines: No strict guidelines for I/O usage due to advanced Gen3 or Gen4 NVMe SSDs.

  • Reasonable Usage: Users are asked to keep I/O usage reasonable.

  • Prohibited Programs:

    • Programs like Chia that cause excessive wear on SSDs are not allowed.

Policy Changes

  • Updates: This policy may be updated periodically.

  • Responsibility: It is your responsibility to check for any changes and stay informed.

  • Notifications: Major changes may be communicated via email notifications.
